Had an event at the Rock today. It's by a network marketing company called Extra Excellance. Freaking boring, siah! The main speaker was from Taiwan. She's given 1 hr 20 mins for her speech in mandarin. The way she speaks was like telling her life story from day 1 with the company 15 years ago. her gestures were so drama as if she's gonna cry anytime. Something like filming a Taiwanese drama series. Mark, who was in the AV room recording, commented that when she was 3 minutes into her speech, he felt like dozing off already. I agreed. The whole event was so "chi-na". But I kinda like the female MC though. She's from Shanghai. She a MC for an event company in Shanghai. She's got a very unique voice.
Right after the event, I rushed to 6th floor for YAM meeting. Thank God things have gone smoothly for the setup and sound check. Laurence was there to oversee and assist.
Towards the end of meeting, the band sang the song "Still". It's reminds me of a lot of things. I teared a little.
Hide me now Under Your wings Cover me Within Your mighty hand
When the oceans rise and thunders roar I will soar with You , above the storm Father, You are King over the flood I will be still and know You're God
Find rest my soul In Christ alone Know His power In quietness and trust
When the oceans rise and thunders roar
I will soar with You , above the storm
Father, You are King over the flood
I will be still and know You're God
After packing up, thought I'll call Yvonne to join them for supper. They were at Liang Seah Street. When I got there, I saw a large crowd than I've expected. About 20 plus people from her CG. There's hardly any space to squeeze in to sit and majority of them, I do not know. Got a little agitated. Guess it's because I was feeling tired and a little melancholic mood. Told Yvonne I'll go home.
Yea, finally I'm transferring back to oversees Hokkien and Chinese service starting February. Reason being, hokkien service will be having a whole new set of sound equipment. I will have to teach the guys how to use and maintain them.
Was just walking through Carrefour and found just 1 box of JBL speakers on the shelf. Bought it straight away. It's just $139 compared to Apple store selling at $200.92. It's a good buy, man! Messaged her that I've bought the speakers already and I will pass her the receipt. She actually wanna bless me with the speakers. hallalujah, thank You, Abba!
Woke up earlier than I thought! So I went to hokkien service to check out on what's been happening there. Actually, I just wanted to check on the guys how they doing with the sound system!
Was there late! So, I went outside to have my coffee. Thought I'll go in again when altar call comes. They were singing after sermon ended. I was listening with my headphone on individual instruments and vocals and my, my, oh, my, they were not to the required standard. The keyboard was sparkling sharp and the acoustic guitar sounded metallic. These were the soundguy's mistake. had already corrected him. But the vocals, I guess they were all newbies. But still, it's for their good that I addressed my findings to Louis. They should improve if they take my findings objectively. The guy was singing monotonous with no sense of rhythm. There's no live in him. The other lady had a very weak voice, machiam no more breath. The one on the extreme left was okay. She seems to powerful vocal but she's not fully using it. Sigh, 3 out of 4 still in practise mode, cannot, lah! The one and only one left that could sing was probably because she had some singing background back in the main choir team. She's good. Told Louis, all she needs to improve on is to project more of her voice to the mic. I'm just guessing that she's singing from her vocal cords rather than from her diaphragm.
Went shopping with Mark later on. Owed him a Christmas present, so, bought him a shirt from Springfield. looks good on him, siah!
Went dinner with Mark, Jason and Charmaine. After that, we went to Purvis Street for dessert. Walked in, sat down, placed our orders of dessert, went up to the cashier, passed her my order and she asked me, "You never order food, ah?" Told her nope, just dessert. In turn, she said that they don't serve desserts alone, must order food then can at the same time pointing to the order form to a fine print printed "We don't serve desserts and drink alone!" I told her nicely,"You got business here, you don't want to do, ah?" She simply kept silent and pointed her finger rudely back to the slip printed "We don't serve desserts and drink alone!" I just smiled, turned towards my pals, said with a loud voice,"Lets go, we go elsewhere to eat!" You can imagine the rest of the patrons there looking at me. But who FREAKING cares, man! This kind of FREAKING service. So, we went back to the dessert stall at Liang Seah Street. The service was much more better. The lady even gave us a free packet of angpao envelopes.
Came home and was tired out. Blog this and went straight to bed.
Had a small gathering with some of my ex-colleague from HMV. Went Adams Road for supper. It's really nice to see them again (like after 1 year 3 months). Those present were Bea "mummy", Ernie, Bandi, Jolene, XiuTing, Hanisa & of coz Soo Wei (DJ of FM98.0). Had a good time with them, catching up with what's been happening to everyone.
Came home quite "early" again, as usual! Thank God one of my sound guy volunteered to take over my serving for 1st and 2nd service on Sunday....phew! I can have more time to sleep...hehehe!
